CHINESE GIRL LOOKS AT A GIANT MOONCAKE IN BEIJING.
A Chinese girl looks at a giant mooncake on display outside a shopping
mall in Beijing September 30, 2001. The sales of the traditional
Mid-Autumn Festival delicacy has slumped in mainland China following a
report that emerged in early September that a well-known Chinese bakery
was putting year-old fillings in its mooncakes. Mooncakes are the
Mid-Autumn Festival equivalent of fruitcakes at Christmas, chocolate
eggs at Easter and boxes of candy on Valentine's Day. The Mid-Autumn
Festival falls on October 1 this year. REUTERS/Guang Niu
