Los Angeles Lakers' player Kobe Bryant failed to show up for a
Streetball Challenge event at the Millennium Monument in Beijing August
12, 2001. Bryant was in town to promote "Kobe" sports shoes and
clothing for Adidas. After waiting for more than three hours, the fans
were notified by authorities that the event was cancelled. Some of the
hundreds of fans began throwing water bottles, shouting and refusing to
