SHANGHAI.
Chinese firefighters clean the banks of the Huangpu River after an oil
spill in Shanghai August 12, 2003. About 85 tons of oil have been
cleared since a spill following a ship collision on the river on August
5, Xinhua News reported. The accident, said to be the most serious oil
leak accident in Shanghai since 1996, resulted in an oil slick 200
metres long by 20 metres wide and had expanded to five square
