CHINESE INVESTOR USES A MONOCULAR TO MONITOR SHARE PRICES IN SHANGHAI.
A Chinese investor uses a monocular to monitor share prices on an
electronic board in Shanghai October 31, 2001. China B shares reversed
early losses to end firmer on Wednesday as investors entered late to
buy stocks in textile, shipping, port and property firms expected to
benefit from China's entry into the World Trade Organisation. All six
top gainers on both the Shanghai and Shenzhen hard currency markets -
open to foreigners - were so-called WTO plays in sectors which have
performed strongly this year as investors bet on the benefits of China
joining the trade body. REUTERS/Claro Cortes IV
