Tibetan Buddhist monks count money donated by pilgrims under a giant tanka, or religious painting on fabric usually portraying the Lord Buddha, measuring 30 metres tall and 40 metres in width during the Display of Tanka Festival at the Tashihunpo Monastery in Shigatse June 27. The Display of Tanka Festival is the most important Buddhist festival in Tibet which is presided by the Panchen Lama. The Tashihunpo Monastery is the seat of the 11th Panchen Lama, nine-year-old Gyaincain Norbu, who returned from Beijing two weeks ago.
