China's official Lunar New Year holiday does not start until February 9, but the peak travel season has begun with millions heading home and away in the biggest annual human migration on the planet. Beijing's railways handled more than a quarter of a million passengers on Monday alone and should carry about 7.35 million travellers during the 40-day Lunar New Year rush season from January 25 to March 5, local media said.
