CLINTON CHATS WITH GERMAN CHANCELLOR AT WHITE HOUSE.
President Clinton chats with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in the foyer of the White House West Wing following their Oval Office meeting, February 11. Schroeder was expected to discuss issues ranging from NATO strategy to Holocaust compensation claims. Traditional close ties between the United States and Germany have cooled since Schroeder beat Helmut Kohl in general elections last September. Kohl was seen as one of Clinton's most reliable allies.
