French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt attends a news conference in Bogota July 3, 2008. Betancourt, the symbol of rebel hostages in Colombia, hugged and wept with her children for the first time in six years after a military rescue that dealt a severe blow to already weakened guerrillas. The former presidential candidate was rescued by the Colombian military on Wednesday along with three Americans and 11 other hostages long held by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
