A group of Guambianos indians march during a funeral of four their
partners in Santiago de Guambia in this file photo taken on September
22, 2001. The clashes flared on Guambiano Indians attacked a gruop of
neighboring Ambalo Indians who had occupied dispute land in Southern
Cauca province, killing seven people and wounding at least 16 indians.
On that day, 1,500 Guambias indians clashed with 200 Ambalos in a
mountainside in the most violent incident in a long-brewing dispute
over 860 acres (350 hectares) of farmland 30 minutes' drive down the
