U.N. ENVOY NORWAY EGELAND FOR COLOMBIA ANSWERS QUESTIONS DURING A NEWS CONFERENCE IN BOGOTA.
Special envoy of the United Nations for Colombia Norway Jan Egeland answers questions from a reporter during a news conference in Bogota, August 29, 2001. The UN on Wednesday made a dramatic call for Colombia's government and leftist rebels to make a fresh peace negotiating effort and stop a slide into all-out war. "The Secretary General of the UN, Kofi Annan, is deeply concerned by the deteriorating situation in Colombia," Annan's special advisor on Colombia, Jan Egeland, said during the news conference.
