UN SPECIAL ENVOY JAMES LEMOYNE AND REBEL COMMANDERS GOMEZ AND REYES
TALK DURING A PEACE MEETING IN LOS POZOS.
United Nations Secretary-General's Acting Special Adviser for Colombia
U.S. James LeMoyne (R) dialogues with rebel commanders Joaquin Gomez
(C) and Raul Reyes during a peace meeting in Los Pozos, for saving the
peace talks in Colombia, January 12, 2002. Colombians readied for mass
exodus from a Marxist-rebel enclave early on Saturday as the United
Nations kicked off last ditch meetings aimed at saving three-year-old
peace talks before the president orders an army offensive. If U.N.
envoy James LeMoyne fails to strike an agreement by 9:30 p.m. with the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) the government will give
the rebels 48 hours to vacate their enclave in southern Colombia before
troops move in on Monday. REUTERS/Eliana Aponte
