DISPLACED COLOMBIAN CHILDREN SLEEP IN A HAMMOCK IN SARAVENA.
Displaced children sleep in a hammock at an abandoned school in
Saravena, on June 3, 2003. Far-right paramilitary thugs chased 400
native Indians off their modest homesteads on the rural outskirts of
the nearby town of Tame at the end of April. Now more than 100 of them
are crammed in here, spreading out musty sleeping gear and tending
cooking fires beneath the sooty eaves of an unroofed concrete patio
lined by dark rooms. Picture taken on June 3, 2003. REUTERS/Daniel
