Bob Borowski, an engineering systems manager for Panasonic, holds a SD Memory card at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 6. The memory device offers a combination of high storage capacity, holding as much data as a regular CD thanks to a special compression system, and a special security system that Panasonic hopes will encourage direct distribution of new music. Plans are in the works for a 2 GB memory card that will hold more than five hours of music.
