ECUADOREAN INDIANS STAND BEHIND BURNING BLOCKADE.
Ecuadorean indians stand behind a burning barricade outside of Quito, March 17. Transport workers, angered by soaring gasoline prices, extended a national strike using trucks, buses, taxis and barricades to block main roads all over the country. Troops and police, out in force under a government-declared national state of emergency, have managed to unblock most roads in Quito, allowing traffic in the capital to circulate freely.
