Indigenous Ecuadoreans are threatening to cause chaos starting midnight January 16 in response to the economic crisis in their country. Ecuadorean President Jamil Mahuad dolarized his country's economy in an attempt to control galloping inflation a week ago. This drastic measure has met with a mixed response, but has split his opposition and calmed protests which threatened to overthrow him.
