Ecuador deployed police and military forces throughout its capital city on Wednesday to prepare for protests against President Jamil Mahuad and his proposal to adopt the U.S. dollar to help the Andean nation's crisis-ridden economy. Ecuadorian security forces are bracing themselves for several days of protests in the wake of the new policy.
