Wadi El-Rayan depression is located in the western desert of Egypt, about 65 km (40 miles) west of the Nile River which have waterfalls are considered to be the largest waterfalls in Egypt. El-Rayan is a protected area famous for its waterfalls and is home to many historically significant sites including, Roman and Pharonic ruins and a valley with fossilized whale bones.
