German citizen Schaefer is led under custody to be transferred from a police station to a prison in Buenos Aires. German citizen Paul Schaefer, a fugitive religious sect leader, is led under custody to be transferred from a police station to a prison located in the Buenos Aires province city of Mercedes, late March 10, 2005. Schaefer, age 83, one of Chile's most wanted men, was convicted there in absentia of sexual abuse of more than two dozen children who went to the free school and clinic Colonia Dignidad. Schaefer moved to Chile with a group of German families and established the Colonia Dignidad religious cult and farming commune in 1961. Germany is looking into requesting the extradition of Scahefer following his arrest in Argentina on March 10 related to accusations dating back to the 1950s.
