Pennsylvanian Gov. Mark Schweiker uses a water bottle to demonstrate
the method they hope to use to bring out nine miners through a 36-inche
escape hole which they are drilling in efforts to free them at Quecreek
Mine in Somerset, Pennsylvania, July 26, 2002. The miners were trapped
July 24 when the wall of an adjacent, abandoned mine was breached,
releasing more than 50 million gallons of water into the shaft where
