Marc Sandlin (L) holds a four-prong hook as Rene Lieurance (R) keeps a look out while they help their friend Paul Calcaterra (not shown) cull older alligators from a breeding pond north of Okeechobee, Florida October 25, 2006. They were culling the older animals so that they can re-stock the pond with a younger, more fertile population. Calcaterra owns a 170-acre facility north of Okeechobee, Florida housing 14 breeding ponds and grow-out houses holding approximately 17,000 alligators. The once-endangered alligator has made such a phenomenal comeback in Florida that state wildlife officials are considering making it fair game once again. Picture taken October 25, 2006.
