A camel caravan arrives on the salt pan of Ethiopia's Danakil depression near Dallol volcano, January 29, 2007. Generations of Afar salt merchants haul blocks of salt along treacherous caravan routes from the depression to the Tigray highlands. Danakil depresion, also known as Afar, reaches 116 meters below the sea level and is one of the hottest places in the world with temperatures sometimes over 60 degrees Celsius in the sun.
