Gonzalo Acha and Amelia Thomas have eased into the roles the economic crisis has imposed on them: Acha as sole breadwinner with a salary frozen six years running, Thomas as what she calls "creative homemaker". They live with their three young daughters just blocks from Madrid's Puerta de Sol square where the "los indignados" (the indignant) protesting against government spending cuts have regularly gathered.
