JOHN SCOTT FROM RED CROSS HAS PAPERS CHECKED BEFORE SEEING HOSTAGES AT PARLIAMENT COMPOUND AFTER SEEING HOSTAGES IN SUVA.

John Scott (L), Director of the Fijian division of the International Red Cross, has his papers checked by an armed guard before seeing the hostages at the Parliamentary compound in Fiji's capital city Suva June 5. Scott said that he had given the 31 hostages, who include former Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry and his ministers, new mattresses and blankets today, adding that they were in good health. Coup leader George Speight had not re-started talks with the military as planned this morning, after saying yesterday the talks were progressing well.
