Stock Exchange on December 20, 2002. The press conference was held to
discuss a landmark settlement under which top brokerages agreed to pay
around $1.4 billion and accept new rules of conduct to settle charges that
they issued biased stock research. Steven Cutler (2nd L), the enforcement
director of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Christine Bruenn (3rd
L), the president of the North American Securities Administrators
Association, and NASD Chairman and CEO Robert Glauber (2nd R) also attended.
