UN General Sedcretary Kofi Anan (2nd R), French President Jacques Chirac (R) and African leaders pay their respects during a minute of silence asked by Togolese President Gnassingbe Eyadema [after the death of Congolese President Laurent-Desire Kabila] during the opening session of the Franco-African summit in Yaounde January 18, 2001. Delegations from more than 50 African countries, including 34 heads of state, participate in the summit.
