A rescue worker with a dog leaves Argentiere for the village of Tour, near Chamonix, early February 10 where an avalanche covered part of the village, killing 12 people, February 9. Some 17 mountain chalets were swept away by the avalanche measuring 150 meters (400ft) wide and 6 meters (19ft) deep.
