SOME OF BRITAIN'S "LITTLE SHIPS" SAIL TO DUNKIRK HARBOUR TO MARK THE 1940 EVACUATION OF ALLIED FORCES FROM FRANCE.
Some of Britain's "little ships" of 1940 sail to Dunkirk harbour June 2, northern France, ahead of next Sunday's commemoration of the 1940 Dunkirk evacuation of 340,000 Allied soldiers from France. Recreating "Operation Dynamo" on a smaller scale than in 1940, 58 vessels; pleasure crafts, fishing boats and tugs, have set sail from the cliffs of Dover to the beaches of France to mark to epic event.
