MIGRANTS SIT ON A BUS AFTER BEING REMOVED FROM A CHURCH IN CALAIS.
Migrants sit on a bus after the up to 100 Iraqi Kurd and Afghans were
removed from the St Pierre St Paul church in Calais early November 14,
2002. French police removed up to 100 Iraqi Kurd and Afghan migrants
from the church, ending their five-day occupation to press asylum
demands. Migrants were led from the Saint Pierre Saint Paul church to
four waiting buses after police entered the building around 5:00 a.m.
local time (0400 GMT). Eyewitnesses said there had been no signs of
violence during the police action, which lasted around half an hour.
