Interior Minister Jean-Pierre Chevenement shakes hands with a fireman who participated in rescue operations after high winds and torrential rains hit south western France November 14. At least 19 people have died and more than seven reported missing. The weather also cut off main roads, railways, power and phone lines across the south where several dykes were close to collapse.
