Abbe Pierre, France's well known figure in the fight against poverty in
France, is seen as he leaves Hotel Matignon in Paris after talks with
Prime Minister Jean Pierre Raffarin, December 2, 2002. Abbe Pierre
founded the Emmaus charity which actively helps the poor and unemployed
through the collection and resale of used wares. Raffarin announced
that the French government will give jobseekers a Christmas bonus of
