CURRENCY.
French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin leaves a baker's shop after buying
some croissants downtown Paris, January 1, 2002. Jospin went shopping
to mark the launch of the new currency. Euro notes and coins replaced
national currencies as legal tender in 12 European Union countries.
