A BANK OF FRANCE EMPLOYEE DISPLAYS BLOCKS OF SHREDDED FRENCH FRANC
A Bank of France employee displays blocks of shredded French Franc
banknotes, in Marseille, January 9, 2002. Each block contains the
remains of 300,000 francs (45 724, 71 Euros) and will be fed into
incinerators for destruction. The French Franc will be phased out of
circulation February 17, 2002 at which time the Euro will be the only
currency legal tender in France.
