FRENCH PRIME MINISTER LIONEL JOSPIN LEAVES THE ELYSEE PALACE AFTER
French President Jacques Chirac (R) says goodbye to his former
socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin (L) after Jospin presented his
resignation at the Elysee Palace, May 6, 2002. Chirac won the second
round of the French Presidential elections May 5, 2002 by taking over
80% of the vote against extreme right wing Jean-Marie Le Pen. Jospin,
the socialist candidate, was beaten by Le Pen in the first round.
