Rwanda's genocide-hunting couple Alain and Dafroza Gauthier pose at their home in Reims
Rwanda's genocide-hunting couple Alain (L) and Dafroza Gauthier pose at their home in Reims, September 6, 2013. People often compare them to Serge and Beate Klarsfeld, a much celebrated activist couple who dedicated their lives to hunting down Nazis from France. The comparison makes them smile. She a Rwandan trained in chemical engineering, he a French high school teacher, their same determination to see justice done has seen Alain and Dafroza Gauthier devote a decade to tracking down some three dozens presumed accomplices of the 1994 Rwandan genocide who had been living quietly in France. In February, the first of them - a 53-year-old former soldier who allegedly supplied killers with arms and instructions and who some in Rwanda nickname "the torturer" - will be tried in a French court and risks life in jail.
