- FILE PHOTO 14JUN00 - Fugitive financier Martin Frankel, wanted in the United States for allegedly swindling more than $200 million from insurance companies, has lost an appeal of a jail term for offenses committed while on the run in Germany, officials said November 22, 2000. The Federal Court of Justice rejected his appeal this month of a three-year sentence for smuggling diamonds and possessing fake passports, a spokesman for the Hamburg prosecutor's office said.
