A woman holds drawings during a gathering at the temporary monument "Pillar of Shame" near the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, July 11, 2010, commemorating the 1995 mass murder of Muslim men and boys in the town of Srebrenica. The Society for Threatened Peoples has collected 16.744 shoes from Bosnia, Austria, Switzerland and Germany to build the monument that is to draw attention to the failure of the United Nations (UN) to prevent the killing of 8372 refugees who died during the Bosnian War in an area that was declared UN safe zone. The writing reads: "Under the eyes of the international community! Helpless women and children are taken away accompanied by armed Serbs. And the world just watched!"
