Germany's Federal Cartel Office on Wednesday opened legal proceedings against 35 companies it suspects of charging inflated gas prices, a further regulatory swoop to break the power of utility groups. The Bonn-based authority said in a statement it had Germany's four biggest power groups in its sights. It is probing companies belonging to E.ON, RWE, EnBW and Vattenfall Europe.
