East Germany's last Communist leader Egon Krenz leaves the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg November 8, 2000. Krentz who began serving a six and a half year sentence January 2000 on manslaughter charges for the shooting deaths of East Germans trying to flee to the West has been released for three days from prison to argue his case before the European Court of Human Rights. The new court building was designed by British architect Sir Richard Rogers.
