BERLINERS LAY DOWN FLOWERS AT THE SOCIALIST MEMORIAL IN BERLIN.
Berliners lay down flowers at the Monument for the Socialists during the traditional ceremony January 14, 2001, to mourn the deaths of German communist leaders Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. Luxemburg and Liebknecht were founders of the German Communist Party and leaders of the brief Spartacist uprising in Berlin which followed defeat in World War One. They were arrested and murdered on January 15, 1919.The inscription reads " The deaths remind us.
