A MIDDLE AGED WOMAN TRIES TO PASS BETWEEN GERMAN RIOT POLICE AND ANTI
MILITARY DEMONSTRATORS IN BERLIN....
A middle aged woman tries to pass between a line of German riot police
and a peacefull anti-military demonstrators outside the Ministry of
Defence in Berlin July 20, 2002. The protest is held during the annual
ceremony to commemorate an unsuccessful plot to assassinate Adolf
Hitler on July 20, 1944, and to swear in new recruits. New German
Defence Minister Peter Struck, who took over his post on July 19, 2002,
after Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder sacked his predecessor Rudolf
Scharping over questions about suspect payments the man received, said
he saw no reason to push for increased military spending despite
repeated complaints from generals. REUTERS/Peter Andrews
