Rudolf Oeser, a member of Germany's Social Democratic party (SPD) party poses at his retirement home in the western city of Hamm August 27, 2013. The 95-year-old has been a member of the Social Democrats for 80 years, having joined the Social Workers Youth Organisation (SAJ) in 1932, defying persecution by the Nazis. But despite political repression, he never regretted his political choice. "My father was a socialist and active in the union, for this reason it was obvious for me to do political work in the same party. "I was never bothered by anything in the SPD. I have always spoken my mind, I have always been an uncomfortable companion," he said in an interview in the retirement home where he lives today.
