Irmgard Moeller, Germany's longest serving woman prisoner, was sentenced to life for a 1972 bomb attack on the U.S. army headquarters in Heidelberg in which three U.S. soldiers were killed. The Red Army Faction, a guerrilla band that rocked the German establishment with bombings and assassinations in the 1970's and 1980's said April 20 that it had abandoned its struggle and disbanded.
