GERMAN AGRICULTURE MINISTER RENATE KUENAST AT FEDERAL VIRUS RESEARCH INSTITUTE IN TUEBINGEN.
German Agriculture Minister Renate Kuenast wipes her face during a news conference at the federal virus research institute in Tuebingen near Stuttgart, March 21, 2001. Confirmation of foot-and-mouth disease in the Netherlands on Wednesday stoked fears in neighbouring Germany, but Kuenast said a transport ban on cloven-hoofed animals since March 13 offered some security. Germany would check all Dutch animal and meat imports from the last four weeks and would slaughter all animals that had come into contact with those on affected Dutch farms, Kuenast said.
