Greenpeace activists block the entrance to the nuclear power plant Kruemmel near Hamburg
Greenpeace activists weld to block the main entrance to the nuclear power plant Kruemmel near Geesthacht July 8, 2009, about 30 km (20 miles) south-east of Hamburg. Swedish state-owned utility company Vattenfall, which operates the Kruemmel nuclear power plant in northern Germany, turned off the reactor at midday on Saturday when a transformer short-circuited after running at half load ahead of the botched full reopening. The placard reads 'AKW Kruemmel closed due to unreliability of Vattenfall'. REUTERS/Christian Charisius (GERMANY CONFLICT ENERGY ENVIRONMENT)
