The Bavarian prime minister and head of the Christian Social Union Party (CSU), Edmund Stoiber enters a news conference prior his meeting with designated German Christian Democratic Party (CDU) Parliamentary Floor leader Friedrich Merz in Munich, February 21.Germany's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) clarified the succession to one of two key posts left open after this week's resignation of its leader, Wolfgang Schaeuble.The party nominated Friedrich Merz, its 44-year-old tax expert, as successor to Mr Schaeuble as parliamentary chairman, amid signs the CSU was lobbying to increase its representation in the parliamentary party leadership.
