Schroeder handed over the sculpture, which is placed in the garden of the Chancellery, in a symbolic ceremony to the people of the former capital Bonn. The German government has begun the long-awaited and intricately planned move from its provisional post-war capital in Bonn to its new home in Berlin. By the end of the summer, Chancellor Schroeder's government, the entire 660-member parliament and 15 federal ministries will have moved from Bonn to Berlin.
