A WORKER DISPLAYS A GOLDEN GERMAN MARK COIN IN BERLIN.
An unidendified worker displays one of the first golden one German mark coins in the Federal Mint in Berlin January 16. The Federal Mint will sell one million of the 12 grams heavy fine gold (999/1000) coins at a prize of about 250 German marks (120 US $). Up to 100 million German marks (45 million US $) of the netto proceeds will go into the new foundation " Money and Currency". Further netto proceeds will be used to renovate several museums on Berlin's so-called "museums island".
