Pupils walk along the Gleis 17 (platform 17) holocaust memorial at a
former cargo railway station in Berlin-Grunewald on January 27, 2003.
From October 1941 to February 1945, more than 50,000 Berlin Jews were
loaded into trains on Gleis 17 and transported to the Nazi
concentration camps, such as Auschwitz. The German lower house of
parliament Bundestag commemorated the victims of the Holocaust on
