Clement former German economy and labour minister addresses a news conference in Bonn
German Social Democratic Party (SPD) member and former Economic and Labour Minister Wolfgang Clement, addresses a news conference in Bonn August 7, 2008. A move to throw Wolfgang Clement, a heavyweight centrist figure, out of Germany's SPD is deepening divisions within the party and risks turning away moderate voters ahead of next year's general election. A regional branch of the SPD told the former economy minister, he would be stripped of his party membership after he indirectly called on voters not to elect a party colleague in a state election earlier this year. Clement defended his remarks, saying he would speak out again if he thought SPD policy was going the wrong way. REUTERS/Ina Fassbender (GERMANY)
