The leader of the German construction worker union IG Bau Steine Erden Klaus Wiesehuegel addresses a news conference after negotiations in Berlin, March 30. Wiesehuegel introduced a wage deal for western German building workers with a two percent wage rise from April 2000 and a further 1.6 from April 2001. The deal also provides for increased pension payments and includes a common statement on minimum wages in the sector.
